Asklipio Castle is a medieval Crusader monument with an attractive entrance. At one time
a tunnel ran from one of the houses to the castle so that villagers could secretly escape
from raiding pirates. At the top of the hill the medieval fortifications offer a marvelous
view of the beach stretching endlessly from Kiotari all the way to Gennadi.
The heart of the village is the square in front of the superb Byzantine Church of the
Dormition. Built in 1060, the interior of the church includes exceptional fine Byzantine wall
paintings. Just next door, in the church's old olive press, you will find a small folklore
museum.
