KRITINIA CASTLE

Kritinia Castle was built by the Knights of St. John in the 16th century to protect the
western side of the island. This spectacular medieval castle was originally on three levels
with each level assigned to a different Grand Master. The magnificent castle sits on a steep
rock and dominates the traditional nearby mountainous village of Kritinia. From the castle,
you will experience breathtaking views of the sea towards the small island of Halki.
There is a regular connection between Skala Kamirou and the island of Halki. Skala Kamirou
is a beautiful small harbor which has frequent departures to the small nearby islands of
Halki & Nisyros.
